The AICR UK Receptionist of the Year Competition grows stronger year on year with more Hotels showing support for their Front Office Staff by recognising their talents and putting them forward into this coveted competition.

The Receptionist of the Year Competition is held in the last season of the year and comprises of four stages. The winner of the competition has the opportunity to represent their country in the International Receptionist of the Year Competition.

The AICR committee members review the application criteria on an annual basis to ensure the competition is of highest standard.

First Stage

All applicants must complete the entry criteria with a completed application form and a written essay.
This is then judged by the AICR committee and a selected number (dependant on number of entrants) will go through to the next stage.

Second Stage

Successful applicants are then invited to an interview dressed in their full work uniforms. This is again judged by the AICR Committee.
At this stage the basis for the interviews are carefully selected questions on all areas within Front Office and on the individuals in general.
The aim is to get about 6 candidates through to the final.

Third Stage

Each of the six finalists are asked some rigorous interview questions followed by an
opportunity to prove their talents in specially constructed role-play scenarios.

The judges for this part of the competition are specifically chosen industry professionals.

The six finalists' scores are then collated and the agonising waiting is put to rest the same day at a Prize-Giving Reception at another top London Hotel.

The winner and runner-up are then announced!

Final Stage

Finally, the winner is put forward to represent the AICR UK section at the International Receptionist of the Year Awards with a chance to win the coveted David Campbell Trophy. This competition is held annually at an international destination.

Entry Criteria

Candidates should be in full time employment and must hold a Receptionist position in a four or five star hotel where there is a paid up member of the association. Hotels can nominate two candidates.
